Ed Snider. Flyers original and current owner and founder of Comcast (yep he is the one responsible for those high cable bills). Had no idea that he was born in DC until I read this.

Heard this on 106.7 earlier this morning.   They mentioned Snider had the Flyers over when they were in LA earlier.    Oh good.    Just what the Caps need.

Brings back some Big East memories.  Never really liked Syracuse or Boeheim but Pearl was fun to watch.

I just saw that :(  my daughter loved wrestling and Chyna and Triple H were so huge when she used to watch it, so sad that her life spiraled out of control so quickly :(

He was hospitalized I think last week with the flu, he's always looked like such a frail guy maybe he's had issues none of us knew about.

Another reason why the 80's were the greatest decade.  I can't believe this.

The rumors around town have been that he had the "big disease with a little name" and stopped taking his medication due to the religious whackjobs he surrounds himself with.  That recent "flu" episode was probably his body starting to finally breakdown.

RIP to the Purple One -- I'm kicking myself for never getting to a show. Terribly sad to hear of his passing

reminds me a little of Bob Marley.  I thought he had a tumor or something that could have been cut out but refused to on religious grounds.  Strong faith / religious nutjobs.  Either way, same result.

Dave Grohl talking about Prince on the Howard Stern show:

Quote
During his Los Angeles residency in 2011, Prince invited Grohl to come and jam before one of his shows. “I waited for him to call all week, I didn’t know whether I was going to play drums or guitar, his song or mine,” Grohl recounted. “I walked into the empty area during soundcheck and Prince just appears … He picks up a bass and starts shredding … and we started playing ‘Whole Lotta Love”.” He continued, “Then we end it, he said, ‘Yea that’s great,’ and i said, ‘Yeah that’s amazing,’ and he said, ‘What are you doing next week?’ and then I never saw him again.”

I'm partial to the "religious nutjobs" that only off themselves...

I am devestated.  I, literally, don't know who my second favorite music artist was.

Purple Rain was barely the tip of the iceburg.  By the time he did Purple Rain, he'd already done 1999...and before that Controversy...and before that Dirty Mind.  His dozens of albums, some unreleased...that he'd make available just for the hell of it, had songs that great songs that the masses never would have heard.  Sometimes you'd just hear, "Prince released this song today."  Not on a album.  Just a song.  His B sides.  For those to young to know, the B side was the "other side" of a released record (back in the days when artists released actual records).  Usually throwaway recordings for most artists.  His B sides were hits, over and over again.  Erotic City was a B side.  The songs he wrote/produced for other artists.  From the Bangles Manic Monday to Sheena Easton's Sugar Walls and so much in between and beyond.  All the artist who covered his songs.  Tom Jones Kiss, this one that I posted here http://www.wnff.net/index.php?topic=32005.msg1501850#msg1501850  Even more how often his songs get sampled into other artist's songs.  The Super Bowl halftime show in the rain.  The Batman soundtrack.  He performed at the White House last year and I remembering arguing with some fool on Huffington Post....

 :'(

Addendum...

Gustav Mahler #3 is jamming on the box ... Who else remembers The Family???  or that he did jazz album under a pseudonym?  Reading the tweets and other releases from celeb, I'm still waiting for Sinead O'Connor.  ONE PRINCE SONG MADE YOU CAREER!  SAY THANK YOU!!!
