She had a rough life, all things considered.  Have to assume it took a toll on her.  Very sad to hear of her passing after it looked like she was going to pull though.

She was as apparently unresponsive on the plane for about 15 minutes before they landed, didn't seem like she had much chance but still sad to see this.  She was one of the first people to speak out about mental illness and start to take some of the stigma away, she helped a lot of people realize they weren't the only ones suffering and she created one of the most iconic characters in film, it may have been rough at times but it seems to have been a life well lived.  RIP Carrie Fisher.

Interesting take on all the 2016 deaths.

I have a very unpopular opinion. It is not 2016 that is to blame for many of our favorite icons dying and falling ill at ages that are too young. It is drug and alcohol abuse.

And then there's Keef who has done more of both than anyone and will be the last human being left alive.

There were reports last night that Keith Richards was found alive in his home, and that a team of doctors has moved into position to protect Betty White.

lol there's got to be a fine line between "abuses drugs and alcohol to the detriment of your body" to "well now you're just really preserved well"

 :?

So very sad.

NPR is replaying interviews with Carrie this week - they have a series of 3, the first in 1990 or so, the last a month ago.  I listened to a bit of the first one today and she was not describing a healthy relationship with her mother.

Here's a ton of Fisher stuff if anyone's interested.

I mean, she was 84 and doesn't have to live now with the pain of not having her daughter anymore, can't help thinking I'd want that exact same thing to happen to me if I was that age and had just lost my child, you know? She was Hollywood royalty no doubt, RIP Debbie.

Yea that was unfair, it's obviously awful for him to lose his sister and then his mom but I can understand dying of a broken heart if God forbid I ever lost one of my kids, it just didn't surprise me I guess.  I don't know, I recently had a death in the family so my judgment is probably completely screwed up so I'll just shut up now.
