watched a bit of Ali vs Larry Holmes a bit earlier, it was every bit as sad as I remember it when I was a kid. Ali had no business fighting at that point, and Holmes almost seemed to be pleading with the ref to stop the fight.
Holmes was one of the pall-bearers and reportedly remained close with Ali until the end. He was always in Ali's shadow, but man was he a great fighter in his own right.
