Not just on bicycles.    I used to tell folks that wind is worse than cold, wet, etc. on motorcycle as well.

Last weekend when that crazy cold front came through I was standing on the pedals in my lowest gear in order to stay upright. At least the temperature didn't really go off a cliff until a couple hours later.

Pretty awesome story.

http://www.velonews.com/2016/12/news/leah-thorvilsons-second-chance_426804

She was a very high level endurance runner, qualified for the olympic trials in 2012, won some ultramarathons outright (1st overall, not just 1st woman), but leg injuries more or less made her unable to run competitively anymore.  She starts to cycle.  One of the top teams in the world, as a gimmick, partners up with with an indoor cycling trainer marketer, offers a competition on trainers.  She wins and gets a tryout with one of the top teams in the world and makes it.  Great story, great read.
