Clarkson gets its arch-rival St. Lawrence this weekend after sweeping Princeton.  Should be a great series.

Cornell at QU, Dartmouth at Yale, RPI at Harvard, and Clarkson at St. L.  All the seeds made it through.  Yale and Denver now 6th in PWR, but QU down to #2.

Looking at PWR, I'll guess Cornell and Harvard make the NCAAs if they win their next series.  I think Clarkson needs to win and win its semi.  St L I think needs to win the ECACs.  Yale and QU I think are in already.

I'm thinking the all of Cornell, Dartmouth, RPI, Clarkson and St. Lawrence only get in if they win the ECAC outright.  Cornell may only have an outside shot by beating only QU since they are #2.  A lot would have to happen for Harvard but it's possible.  If it ends up QU v. Yale in the ECAC finals we're likely only getting two teams from the conference in.

IF cornell were to beat QU twice in a playoff round, I think it would probably give them a big PWR bump.  Then losing to Yale or Harvard after that might leave them in the 13/14 range.  Agree on the rest. If Harvard were knocked off by RPI, then it is really touch and go for the NCAA even if they are now #11 PWR.

Meanwhile, sad to say, UNO may need to make the NCHC finals to get an NCAA bid.  NoDak, St Cloud, and Denver are locks.

Michigan makes it despite its recent slump, even if they don't win their tourney.  Best if they do win to maximize the available at large bids.

Yep.  Pretty bad weekend.
Had Cornell pulled it off, I think they would have been in with a win in the semis.  I don't see Dartmouth making except by winning the ECAC tournament.

Bad break for UNO. DPM - how'd they fall apart so bad in the 2d half?

HE seems to be a near lock for 5.  ECAC looks pretty good for 3, but Harvard may need a win over St. L for comfort.  Could sneak in 3 at large plus Dartmouth or St. L.

Looks like 4 from the NCAC, with two #1 seeds plus Denver and likely UM-Duluth.

figure RoMo cannot get an at large, nor probably Michigan Tech, so 1 from AHA and WCHC.  1 from B1G unless Michigan loses the tournament.  So, 1 + 1 + 1 would leave 13 for the other 3 conferences.  So, it is Northeastern in and 6 for HE unless St L, Dartmouth or a B1G team other than Michigan wins its tournament.  If outside the top 16 teams win both the B1G and the ECAC, then Duluth, BU, or one of Harvard and Yale gets bumped.

! No longer available

see, I can post someone else's fight song.  Thanks - we needed that today.

Northeastern wins Hockey East 3-2 over Lowell.  6 HE teams in the NCAA out of 16 spots.

Ferris state beats Minnesota State for the WCHA crown, RIT wins the AHA, for two automatic births falling to teams outside the top 16 PWR.

QU beats Harvard, 4-1, for the Whitelaw Cup / ECAC title.  Both were assured of NCAA slots before the game.  So that is 10.  North Dakota and Denver make it out of the NCHC even though they lost in the semis.  St Cloud is guaranteed  a slot, too.  That makes 13, and Michigan was also guaranteed a spot due to its ranking.  Therefore going into the B1G and NCHC championship games, there were 2 open slots for 3 teams.  Minnesota could win its way in if it beat Michigan, Minnesota-Duluth would make it either with a win or a Minnesota loss, and Yale would make it if either Minnesota or Duluth lost.

Michigan comes back in the 3d period after trailing, 3-2, to defeat Minnesota 5-3.  That guarantees Yale and UM-D the last two slots.

St Cloud  is beating UMD, 3-1, but both are in the tournament.  If it loses, Duluth is the last at large team.  Duluth making the final bumped Cornell.

QU gets the #1 overall seed and Yale is also sent to Albany.  Bummer I can't go this weekend - should be some great hockey.

Yale's route through Albany could mirror its route through Pittsburgh in 2013.  Lowell then QU.

I checked airfares last night and quickly decided to pass.  Too much driving, too.

You could save a crapload of money staying at a friend's house in the Albany area....     :)

as it turns out, I'm up in boston on an unplanned visit, and my dad's computer does not have speakers and his cable does get ESPNU.  SOL for this weekend unless I pick up speakers for him.

Also, thought you were missing this shindig.  Wife's working Sunday, I suppose?  Happy Easter to you and the family.

I really haven't been able to pay that close attention this year. I know they hit the skids the second half after being ranked #1 early briefly, but I really don't know why or how anything happened.

NoDak punches its ticket on some bad late goaltending by Racine of the Wolverines.  Compher had a nice game.  Michigan did not generate many great scoring chances.  Kudos to the D of NoDak.

A couple of 4s knocked of 1s in the first round - Ferris State over St Cloud in OT and Duluth over Providence.

Lots of OTs, too.

hey, great excuse.  Other than QU, it  is a very traditional Frozen Four - NoDak ( I think most titles), Denver (last back to back champs), and BC (top team this century).  I'm not sure how many games I was able to watch in the regionals (most of Michigan / NoDak, chunks  of Lowell / QU, mostly snippets of others).  Nice to see Anas have a good game v. Lowell.

I don't think the Bruins will sign and play O'Gara right away, now that Yale is out.  Also, I think Lyon may come back again next year because, while this year he was one of the best, I think it was a step back.

Shows what I know.  Also, Jimmy Vesey is not signing with the Predators, even though he would have been slotted in in one of their top lines and would have started his clock towards free agency.  Instead, he is going to be a FA next year.  Ballsey.
