Follow the Prospects: Koda Glover, RHP
« Topic Start: November 06, 2015, 08:40:10 AM »
Found this in the BA Nationals Prospects chat, very interesting 8th round pick from last year:

Quote
Joey (New Jersey): Koda Glover put up video game numbers in the low minors. How quickly can he move, and he is a potential MLB closer?
Teddy Cahill: Koda Glover, the Nats eighth rounder this year, had one of the best debuts of any 2015 draftee. He mostly pitched in Hagerstown, where he had 27 strikeouts in 24 innings and posted a 0.917 WHIP. He should be able to move quick. He runs his fastball up to 98 and combines it with a good slider. You never know who can end up as a closer, but he certainly has the potential to pitch in high-leverage situations. A very good find for the Nationals in the draft this year.

I know I should understand what ZDK means, but I don't. It's a WNFF meme, and I don't understand. Enlighten me?

MASN gave him a shoutout today -- he's doing okay in AA. In two games, he gave up 5. The other 6, 0 runs. We'll see.

Sounds like he may be getting the call to 'Cuse. He's been great lately.

Seems to be that this is the option Rizzo might be trying.

Kid sounds intriguing with his dominance at times. The concern I have though is that he's lights out when he's on, but he's pretty damn bad when he's not. It seems that when he's scored upon, it's multiple runs, not just one missed pitch.  It's only happened a few times but still, for a team in contention, having a rookie thay could implode is kind of scary.

But, obviously there's still more time before we'd count on him at the big league level or in crucial spots.

Glover. Harper seems like he is a lefty specialist. Also working against Harper is we already have another one on the 40man in Nick Lee.

The more I hear about this guy the more I like him. I'd like to see him get Belisle's spot.

I don't think that will happen. My guess was Rivero goes down when Belisle came back but he has shown a little less suck recently. I think Rivero goes down when Pap returns at the end of the month .

There's also functionally an open spot on the 40-man.  Taylor Jordan is still on there and he's out long-term.  He might need to be called up and then put on the 60-day to clear a spot.

Could be. Long term (as in over the next couple of months) Belisle isn't long for the roster. He's a short term stop-gap. I personally don't really expect Rivero to go down. His usage needs to be slimmed down, however.

I agree. Belisle is a stopgap. If i had to guess someone will get "hurt" when Pap is ready.

Hope so; bullpen needs a boost.  Hard to see ol Rusty giving a rook that big of a spot--maybe he can take the 7th.
