Where'd you see that?

I couldn't find the tweet, but it was speculation on Twitter somewhere

I'd like to see a younger analytical guy get the bench coach job so that he can give Dusty new school input on occasion and groom him to take over.

You really don't need an analytical guy in the dugout. The info comes from the front office, anyways. Just have to have coaches that are open to it regardless of their histories or tendencies. The Yankees, for example, don't have a young guy in the dugout - all their coaches are old school guys, really - but shift, platoon, etc. as much as anyone.

Just give me good coaches who put the players in positions to succeed. This isn't football where we need to outsmart everyone.

And this is the thing that has won me over about Baker--he seems like the type to work with anyone. He was middle of the pack in 2013 with the Reds in shifts. I heard him on a soundcloud bit talking about the Nationals line up--saying we "had a lot of high-strikeout guys, and was looking for a high OBP guy to lead off." I'm trying to find the link...

I am waiting-and-seeing. We can't possibly be worse than last year, can we?

EDIT: here is the link: http://www.masnsports.com/nationals-pastime/2015/11/identifying-a-leadoff-hitter-is-among-the-issues-dusty-baker-faces.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Quote
"I don't know if we have that guy yet because the other guys are prone to strikeouts and don't have that high on-base percentage," Baker said on SiriusXM's MLB Network Radio. "We had one, a very good one, in Denard Span, but I don't know if we're gonna have a chance to sign him. We have a chance to sign him."

Hmmm. That's the week we were thinking of. Well, it'd be good to see someone we know.

Outstanding...I'll keep in touch with you on our plans.  We are driving this year...again...

Since the Nationals haven't published their schedule yet, I'm not sure what games we'll be going to other than the one in Orlando on March 12th.

We'll be doing the Suite Day In The Park package that night...provided that is when Disney offers it for the Nationals game this year...and it should be.

It's nice to have safe haven from the sun if need be, and ballpark food buffet included.  Also nice to have one or more of the Disney Characters pay a visit for a photo op.   ;)

I've got to figure out how I'm going to do that since we always had a time share in Disney. Might have to shorten the visit next year.  :turrible:

We would normally, but given the fire drill we went thru last year with the flight getting cancelled, we actually enjoyed the drive.  Still, flying is much easier than what would be a 14 or so hour drive for you.

We'll stop here and there on the way to and from...spend some time in Savannah and Charleston...and South Of The Border!   :hurr:

I don't even give a crap about Dusty being an old crank who hates SABR or whatever, but this guy is a choke artist.  He has the dubious distinction of making the most postseasons of any manager in MLB history without winning at least one.

Your acting as if we won the world series last year.. He's here to make us competitive year in and year out. Im 100% sure if we win 98 games this coming season and make the playoffs all of you doubters will be singing Dusty's name. Matter of fact just making the playoffs this year is a feat on it own.
