First 28 PAs:  .292 / .393 / .458, 2B, HR, 2SB/2CS, 4BB, 5Ks

This kid is going to:
- make people forget about Ian Desmond pretty quickly

I still think the jury is still out, and frankly, he has looked pretty shakey in the field.  Maybe we can chalk that up to nerves...

Turner hit his first homer at Turner.

Destiny.

Actually, we want Turner to avoid that. Was part of the reason he was under rated as a prospect, he tried to alter his swing for more power. Keep him in the Dee Gordon mindset.

I think the FO may see him as a 2B in the future.

Turner's glove has always been a little suspect. Still, can't be any worse than Desmond ...

All reports I've seen say he's pretty good with the glove, and has decent range, it's just his arm strength.

Sounds like he'll make a good 2B with Yunel at SS and Rendon at 3B.

SS is one of those weird positions where having meh glove skills, meh range, and a strong arm to overcome the other two turn meh defenders into good ones, i.e. Desmond. Maybe we can get an actual manager who will employ defensive shifting to best account for Turner's lack of arm strength.

Except that leaves us with a crap defender at the second most valuable defensive position on the field ...

Would be awesome if he could hit leadoff for us next year. Lineup could really flow nicely.

Yup. Let Trea work it out at SS. If he can't stick, then move him. Rendon has to play 3B next year... Yuni can learn 2B. He'll have a whole offseason. Espi/Difo can sub all three.

I am still looking for the strong arm that I think a MLB SS needs. I want to see him throw from the hole and see if he has the hose. If not, it's off to 2B.

Yunel makes the routine plays at SS. With range protection from Rendon and Turner, it might work out just fine. Certainly we'd have fewer E6s in April and May that we have come to expect.

Are you sure of that? How many times has Escobar played SS this year?

It's his natural position.

No, I'm not sure of that - hence my use of the word "might". I'm also not sure Harper will hit .250 or better next year - but experience says he will.

The issue is that Escobar looked bad at SS in 2014 with the Rays, and his limited range at 3B that we have seen this year does not translate to anywhere near an average shortstop.

Yunel sucked donkey cock last year at SS and was a mediocre third baseman this year.

Yup. Has to go to 2B or get moved in the offseason.

Espinosa's first 9 games (31 PAs):

.310/.355/.724, 3 HR, 3 2Bs, 10 RBIs, 2 BBs, 5 Ks

Let's pump the brakes. It's not going to be hard to forget about Desmond regardless of who is playing shortstop next season.

Also I don't get the concern over the arm strength, at least yet. He's 22. He has an offseason to eat Wheaties and practice stronger throws from short.

all of the above.  Rendon, Harp, Turner, healthy Zimm, and hopefully an OF signing or C signing and we should be outstanding with the bats next year.  Werth and Esco/Espi will help too.

wrong.  horrible comparison.  espinosa hit around .260 in A and AA.  Turner hit .323 or so last year in low A and .322 this year in AA and AAA.  Two competely different plyaers, and Turner will soon be the 3rd or 4th more iomportant hitter on the team.
