Turner isn't a major league SS.  He probably isn't even a major league CF.  He can be a fantastic 2B but obviously we have to let Zim get abducted or something for that to happen.
He's not? I've seen a lot worse at both positions than what I've seen out of Turner. If they decide to keep him there, he could be a very good CF in short order. I think he'd be adequate at SS.

Not sure what that guy is talking about.  I think a lot of posters here, when assessing the defense of players, just throw a dart at a board.

Do you guys think a team full of Trea Turners would beat a team of Mike Trouts in a nine inning game if regular pitchers were used?  I think maybe so.
No

Sounds like something someone should do in OOTP for fun.

I don't think their sim engine allows multiples of the same guy.

his speed forces errors.  Billy Burns does the same thing.
Billy Burns back in majors? Cause last I heard he was sent down.

I'm not sure, my point is that Burns' speed forces those same kinds of errors (obviously Burns isn't nearly the hitter that Turner has been so far).

Billy Burns is just pinch running at this point.

Burns has 5 homers in 862 plate appearances over 219 games.  Trea Turner has 5 homers in 186 PAs over 41 games.  Burns has 43 steals over his career.  Trea Turner has 19.

No one should ever say the two are comparable again.

Maybe i'm not being clear.  The point i'm making is that their speed causes fielders to rush and make errors.  That's it.

I saw Burns a bunch at Potomac, he often got to first on balls hit to the infield because fielders rushed their throws.  if he got to first there was a good chance he was going to third because pitchers were constantly throwing to first and making errors, and because catchers rushed their throws when he stole.  That's the same kind of impact Turner has (or anyone with elite speed - Hamilton for example).  I'm in no way comparing their batting skills.

sorry Imref if it came off a bit harsh.  You are right that Turner does pressure infield throws, especially SS throws in the SS / 3B hole. Probably a lot of guys should just eat the ball when he hits it there.  My post was more about just how elite this guy is.  The power is the big surprise for me.

If that's not your wife's frequency, you'll need to Turn-er dial for her.

We all agree on that! The speed though, is Hamilton-esque, and it's been years since a guy with that speed had so many other skills. I can't even think of a comp. Tim Raines? Henderson?

Those are the best comps. You might throw in Vince Coleman but Turner is a better hitter.

Nice chat ...  laughed when he hesitated about instant replay on his steals.   I got the impression he thinks he can steal every base.   I like that.

Fewest Games Played While Winning Rookie of the Year
1. Willie McCovey, 52
2. Ryan Howard, 88

Trea Turner should play in 73, but his path is blocked bigtime by Corey Seager. Trevor Story and Aledmys Diaz will get votes.
