A nickname was born this afternoon.
White Lightning
so, should his nickname be "Moonshine?"
Craziest stuff I've ever tried. WV White Lightin'

Fun night though.
We had some apple moonshine from Tennessee, was delicious :glug:
We used to make Hairy Buffalos with moonshine and/or grain alcohol.
No objections here.

Trea Burner might be simpler.  We definitely need a poll for a nickname

Moonshine has a lot of potential for hiccups and problems.

Trea Burner might be simpler.  We definitely need a poll for a nickname

In the tradition of nicknames in Western PA, the name is usually a moniker denoting a trait of the recipient.    For instance my avatar, Bob "gunner" Prince (fast talker)  ....   Harvey "the kitten" Haddix  ...  "Mean" Joe Green   ....  Trea "moonshine" Turner.    I could go with Trea "burner" Turner.    Let's go to the polls.

Members of the WNFF community, I would like to place the nickname "moonshine" into nomination as the official nickname of Trea Turner   ....        Thank you.    Trea brings speed to the game.    He also  ...   :blah:  :blah:   :blah:

If he tried he could have scored before it landed.

It will come, its more of a take a walk when the pitcher is giving you one that he needs. He swings at alot of ptiches out of the zone that he thinks he can flick down the lines

Agreed but man we have a heck of a bat and some wheels here, let him make these adjustments here. He will be a beast

The great thing about him is that he has enough pop in his bat that when he slows down he will still be a valuable player.

He's not as fast as Byron Buxton.

Based on last year's stats, he broke 21 mph out a higher rate than did Buxton, or anyone else in MLB for that matter including Hamilton.

I doubt that would rub off. LHBs generally prefer low pitches naturally, especially a batter like Murphy who is a natural right hander but bats lefty. The lower pitch means his dominant hand and arm get to do more work, opposed to a higher pitch which requires more top hand effort.

It's the second part of this statement that created the myth in the first part.  Turner just generally needs to get more comfortable on low stuff, especially down and in.

I've always known he has power to wear out the gaps eventually but yesterday's home run was so impressive. That's the type of hit that gets pitching staff's attention. Now they know if they make a mistake he can clobber it.

Too bad it took so long to get him in the regular lineup. He's been beyond awesome. I hope he keeps it up and stays healthy!

This. He's fine handling stuff in the zone, but the low stuff (especially breaking balls low and inside) seem to be an issue for him. Only reason I joked about Murph is that he's great at dropping his hands to make contact, while keeping his body relatively upright. It's an ugly swing at times, but he makes contact and good things happen. Trea should always do the same with that speed.
