This season just went from disappointing to disastrous. Didn't it all go to crap when they acquired Papelbon?

Only one on the team who has been benched for a lack of hustle :stir:

Another reason to fire MW.

So the Papelbon trade ruined Storen's career, Papelbon's career and hopefully next is the career of someone higher up.

FP is at a loss for words about the fight. Be a professional, FP. You can do it. I think.

I almost feel bad for Desmond that the fight almost ruined his curtain call.

Papelbon told Bryce to run it out.   It went down hill from there.

Was he actually lollygagging?

He jogged to first on a short fly to left.  Nothing big

Pap has been on the team for like two weeks. He hasn't earned the right to talk to Bryce like that. If I was Harper I would have kicked his ass but Pap went after him first. That is going to buy him his ticket out of town. You don't freak with the franchise player like that.

He hesitated at the plate when he popped up, put his head down  ...  but did run/jog to first.

Pap was looking for a fight with Bryce because Bryce threw him under the bus for throwing at Machado.

Pap melted down. I love it. What an ahole. He's getting his ass booed.

I hope he goes to the locker room to "hug it out" with Bryce.

The amazing thing is that those two seem like the only ones who care. Did you notice how no one got between them when they started jawing?  No leadership on this team.

No.  Players jaw at each other in the dugout.  There was nothing to intervene on.  The first place they could intervene was when one player attacks the other and that's when they did.

I think the problem is that none of the veterans on the team will ever call him out when he doesn't run out a ball or makes a dumb throw from the outfield (which still happens although not as much as in previous years).  Matt benched him last year but never had the guts to do it again.
Probably the other guys just need to get used to a different set of rules for the star.
And again Paps is going nowhere. The new manager just needs them to patch it up. It's actually refreshing to see two guys who care.
