Were there any other home openers yesterday?

Doesn't look it. Mets opened at home today but they don't have an off day tomorrow. Same with the Phillies for next Monday.

Nats at Mets on Sunday night baseball (8:00 p.m.) on September 4. Good thing they're not playing in D.C. because Metro just announced they plan to start closing at 10:00 on Sundays (in addition to making the midnight Friday/Saturday closing time permanent).

I guess the workers' one hour lunch break isn't long enough.   :couch:

It'll be interesting *if* the Nats make the WS. Historically, Games 3-5 (which the NL city would host) are Friday-Sunday at 8:00 p.m.

I think in this instance, the MLB or the Nats would foot the bill to keep the Metro open on those nights. Regardless, it'll be a good problem to have.

With the work being done, I think it could be more of an operational issue.    To do much of the work, the power to the third rail has to be off.    Plus, I think some the work is being mandated by the Feds as a safety problem.    Crank that baby up after hours during Safe Track and something goes wrong  ....  METRO is toast.
