Sounds like lack of communication between the GM and manager. Which I hope means the manager will be gone after this year. (Have given up hope on anything happening sooner.)

Really surprising given Rizzo's mastery of team control.

Only explanation I can see is his speed as a pinch runner could be valuable to winning a close game or two. This is 'going all in' on this season. I guess I don't hate it.

Bowden was and is a joke. That guy just about ruined the Nats franchise. That's why he can't get a job in baseball.

I think it's pretty clear Jimbo has sources with the team. He's the only reporter who tweets consistently accurate rumors about what the Nats will do in terms of transactions.

I agree it seems strange, but what other possible explanation is there? It seems the most plausible to me.
