FOX soccer channel/BEin Sports, ESPN, etc pretty much did in Summers.[...]

That, plus Arlington's legendary overdevelopment...still approving new office blocks despite a 30% office vacancy rate in Rosslyn and probably a similar level in DOD-abandoned Crystal City, and approving new flats/condos despite ongoing vacancies in Columbia Pike and elsewhere (probably because they're unaffordable to so many). In fact they tried to kick Summers out of its current site back round 2003...the county board's M.O. seems to be, why have a (then-)popular independent business when you can have a big ugly office/condo block and chain stores on the same site and hopefully collect more in property taxes to fund projects like Artisphere and the Columbia Pike streetcar? (Read some of the comments on the article I linked earlier for more insights.)

I lived in that area of Arlington back in the 70s and 80s.    What was it before Summers?     Remember O'Carroll's?   The bowling alley and car dealers just down Wilson toward Rosslyn?

Is Whitlow's still around?

I'm out on the net googlin' the old neighborhood.    Man, it's changed.   :)    I moved out for good around 1991.

There was a good Thai place in the same strip mall as Pho 75...old school, none of this neon & Nagel print crap that Busara popularised.

There's still a few in the old neighborhood.    Google maps ground level makes it appear like the same joints.

The new one looks like a high school football stadium...

I thought it was an interesting comparison.    Sure looks different.

the first one looks like the one that gets city officials excited about redevelopment, the second one looks like reality after the deal is signed

 :hysterical:

"OK Mayor.    How do you like our first rendering?"
"Oh, it's beautiful.   How much?"
"Not much  ....   maybe $50,000,000."
"Ya got a second rendering?"

Crazy finish for Liverpool and Norwich.
Norwich ties it in extra time only to see Liverpool win it a minute later.

There was a graph on the pre-game comparing them to Manchester City over the last five years.    They've come a long way.

I decided to pick Crystal Palace as my team this year.  After a good start they have gone in the crapper; my support was the kiss of death for them.  It's hard not to root for Leicester against all the big money teams.

I've discovered Dortmund in the Bundesliga and their Black & Gold.    :)   I like the Canaries and any Welsh team.     However, I really enjoy watching the big boys.

I saw the graphic on Leicester v. Man City.  Man City spent $250MM on transfers this season. Leicester, $55MM.

I take it the Shmeichel they have in goal is The Great Dane's son?
