Please don't base your opinions on Fast Lane. The PPV they replaced (Elimination Chamber) was a far more interesting endeavor than this. The matches look too predictable. I'm going to watch Fast Lane but only because I already have the network and haven't missed a PPV since subscribing to the Network.

I'd watch some of their "Monday Night Wars" shows if you can - pick the ones that sound interesting to you. You can get a lot of information on the golden days of the Attitude Era. I also really like their "Countdown" show and I often disagree with their lists. I like "Legends of Wrestling" as well as the Podcast series (that's another good watch - Steve Austin and HHH as well as the Austin - Vince McMahon podcasts).

The Network is actually a really good resource if you're a fan of the industry. They give you just enough "behind the scenes" stuff to make you think you really know what's going on all the time.

I've been watching NXT starting at Revolution. It's pretty great. It's too bad the Vaudevillains will never get a call-up with that gimmick. They're a lot of fun.

freak. I kinda figured Reigns would win, but it's hard not to get into Bryan's Yes thing. The crowd still gives no freaks about Reigns with quite a few boos sprinkled in.

Brock has a heck of a face run in him if they could find him a suitable heel opponent, maybe Rusev?

Has anyone given NJPW a shot? The Ibushi/Nakamura match from this past Friday's AXS show was easily 4 1/2 *, absolutely brutally physical. AXS has extended the run for another 26 weeks, meaning that they should get to the point where what they are airing is very current rather than 15 months old.

I liked the match for what it showed. Rusev proved he could compete in a math for more than five minutes.

They don't have ANYONE who can compete with Brock right now. I really think they'll resign Brock and let him carry the belt for a long while and give Sheamus and Orton a chance to get healthy and back in the mix. Sheamus v. Brock would be a great match.

No brand recognition. TNA was interesting for a while with the hexagonal ring but then they went stupid with their creative. RoH is probably the best non-WWE product out there right now.

have you seen the New Japan show? Imagine a Flair-Steamboat level match just about every week, in front of insanely hot, huge arena crowds. They will be making a stronger push into North America this year in partnership with Jeff Jarret's new promotion. The next PPV airing in the US will be in June.

here's ibushi/nakamura from this past January's wrestle kingdom 9 PPV at the Tokyo dome (with Jim Ross & Matt Striker on commentary). Meltzer rated it as a ***** match. Storyline is that Ibushi is the athletic up and comer, while Nakamura is the legend. Ibushi keeps coming close to beating him, but going into this match, hasn't been able to pin him yet.

Have you watched an Okada match? The thing that makes many of these matches so amazing "is" the selling. At the end of Friday's Ibushi match he barely crawled out of the ring and then collapsed during the backstage interview.

I think there's hope for a promotion that takes itself seriously, presents its matches as genuine physical battles, with simple story lines, that doesn't spend its time burying its talent, and that doesn't try to make everyone look like an idiot. The NXT approach, if you will, on a grander stage.

Jarret was behind bringing in Jim Ross to call the January 4th New Japan PPV. He also came up with the X division and Samoa Joe/Kurt Angle program in TNA, perhaps the most "japan-like" angle ever run by an American promotion (and also TNA's biggest PPV draw). If only he'd kept Vince Russo away....

FWIW, in interviews he's saying he wants his new GWF venture to be very much like New Japan in terms of style, while also showcasing wrestlers from around the world. Years ago TNA did an international tag team tournament that was utterly fantastic, featuring teams from Canada, Mexico, and Japan as well as a US team.
