Profit != Market Share

Samsung is -destroying- them in the global smart phone market.
Destroying implies doing better, if your an investor, which do you care about?

Samsung is -destroying- them in the global smart phone market.

Samsung has 21.4% of the global smartphone market, versus apple at 13.9%  I don't think that counts as 'blowing them away,' especially since Samsung's market share has fallen from about 32% of the global market over the last three years while Apple's has pretty much held steady.

In the US, Apple has about 44% marketshare, versus 29% for Samsung.

Apple has historically been a follower, but when they do produce something, they blow away the market.

True, and it will probably do well, but the iPad Pro is a joke. iOS instead of OSX, worse specs than the Surface 3 and SP3 at more price.

The morons will buy it up though, just like they did with the Beats headphones.

Yep. I'll totally retract my statement. Last I looked at the numbers was over a year ago.

For what it's worth, I'm using a Windows Phone :).  That makes me part of a very tiny minority.  That said, it's fantastic for what I want it to do (be a phone, deliver emails, have battery life). I have desktops and tablets (including an iPad Mini) for playtime.

I went back to the iPhone and have been pretty pleased with it so far.  I had the S3 and S4 and those things just could not handle any amount of abuse and the glass cracked when the temps got below 0.  The iPad Pro is probably going to be a hit and that's really, really sad.  The Surface is a dick rider too but it's at least a solid, reliable dick rider.

That said, I just got an MacBook Air and really like it.  I'd much prefer a more power laptop that I could just run Ubuntu on but for a locked down "thin client" it ain't that bad.

Apple does build quality well, the specs aren't what you'd get for the price elsewhere, but I haven't found anywhere else with the same quality (especially with laptops)

My kid's iphone stopped working a month ago.  They replaced it.  The replacement stopped working 2 weeks later.  They replaced it.  Fingers crossed, 'cause the 1 year warranty is now up.

This sounds a lot more like a kid problem than an iPhone problem :)

i installed iOS 9 last night, so far no issues.  The podcast app is greatly improved.  The news app looks interesting but I use feedly so I don't think i'll have any use for it.  The search and map apps are vastly improved as well.  I haven't had a chance to play with the new Siri features or low power mode.  I do like the font/keyboard improvements as well.

if you like podcasts, try Pocket Casts - it's much better than the apple app, the feature I'm looking most forward to is the wifi assist which will automatically switch to LTE on slow wifi connections

i had been using Overcast, which had a nicer UI.  I need something that's CarPlay compatible so I can easily access podcasts through my car's touch screen and right now only the Apple app and Overcast support it.

Mac formatted iPod classic with about 1500 albums on it doesn't want to sync with iTunes on a PC. This does not please the kitteh.

We've had good luck with our iPhones and we swear by our MacBooks; on the other hand my wife's Galaxy tablet died about 5 days after the one year warranty.  After spending hours on the phone they finally agreed to fix it for free.  When they fixed it they sent back a new power cord and said never to use any other type of cord.  She had never used anything other than the cord that came with the tablet.  Customer is always wrong I suppose.

Sounds like there are lemons with all the brands.

A new problem with the iOS 9 update is that it chews up your monthly data limit. You have to turn off the wifi assist function.

You actually prefer having a crappy wifi connection to a good LTE connection?
