I have tried to temper my excitement about this kid because he's so young and so far away, but damn if his numbers aren't extremely impressive.

I'm guessing a few of those HBPs are by annoyed pitchers trying to get even for him stealing on them.

Good lord I hope not. And I would hope if that was the case there'd quickly be a call from Rizzo to the opposing team's GM to shut that crap down. What purpose could it possibly serve any team to have pitchers beaning top prospects in the low minors?

I doubt that's it though. He had 13 HBP in 213 PA in 2014 and 21 HBP in 261 PA in 2015. Seems like he just likes to set up inside and might not have a problem leaning into one :)

I have no problem with it. Ask Craig Biggio - it's a good way to get on base an extra time every series!

If MiLB At Bat was right, he was HBP with the bases loaded ha. Nice RBI

I saw the Suns play a doubleheader last night.  Robles looked good, 2 for 7 over the 2 games, with a 3B and an RBI.  One sacrifice, no BBs or SOs.  Defensively, he was solid, fielding well and showing a good arm.  However, he did attempt to make a diving catch of a sinking line drive in front of him but missed.  He almost trapped it, the ball rolled off to the side, and the RF threw it in.  The batter ended up on second.

What really impressed me the most last night was his speed.  When he scored from first on a double by Schrock, I couldn't believe how fast he flew from 2nd to home.  He also stole second easily.  Another time, he hit a hard grounder to third, which was bobbled, and really hustled and beat the throw.  I'm guessing that the fielder felt the pressure to get rid of the ball quickly. I'm guessing that Robles might be the second fastest player in our system, including the Nats (MAT and Turner).

The best player on the field last night, though, was Max Schrock.  I'll post about him in the Schrock thread.

He's gonna punish Espinosa's new franchise record.

I'd expect him to do well in Potomac, and be in Double A by the end of the year. He'll spend most of next year in the DOuble A.

Victor Robles | CF | Nationals
 Value: Skyrocketing
 ETA: 2018

The Expos/Nationals minor league system was so bad for so long that it’s still easy to overlook the system. However, it’s become quiet good thanks to some smart gambles in the draft and some wise signings out of Latin America. Robles is one of the latter and was acquired for less than $300,000. He has amazing makeup for such a young player (19) and recently earned a promotion from low-A to high-A. He has just five home runs on the year but Robles possesses impressive raw power and could eventually hit 20 home runs. And with his speed, he could be a 20-20 man with the ability to hit .300 down the road. He’s a little ways away from The Show but Robles could eventually make for a fun partner in the outfield for Bryce Harper (if the young star re-signs with Washington).

so our 2018 outfield is looking like Robles, Harper, and either MAT or Goodwin?  Not too shabby.
