tearing up low-A so far:  .357 / .419 / .643, 1 HR, 4 SBs in 7 games, 28 ABs.  See him while you can at Potomac.

Article in the Post about Robles today:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/nationals-journal/wp/2017/04/18/victor-robles-19-is-just-a-kid-playing-baseball-but-also-the-nationals-future/?utm_term=.de0a79760b8c

It talks about his "fearless aggressiveness" and quotes him as saying he has to "keep learning."

he'll be here before the end of the year if he keeps this up (and if someone gets hurt), otherwise he's our CF in 2018 with Eaton sliding to LF.

It is a lot of fun to watch him play. He has a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and boy can he hit.  Make the trip to Woodbridge to see him before he goes to Harrisburg.

There is no freaking way you put Eaton in LF and keep Harper in RF. That's just idiocy if it happens.

Yeah, I saw him in Auburn and Hagerstown, he is definitely fun to watch.  His energy/fearlessness reminds me a little of Harper before he learned to stop running into walls.  I think Harper would appreciate Robles' attitude and love of the game.  Maybe they'll end up in the outfield together in 2019, but at this point I suppose it's more likely to be Eaton, Robles and maybe Soto by 2020.

4 for 5 last night, including 4th HR and 3 RBI. Think it was his 20th birthday, so feliz cumpleanos, Victor!

I'm starting to wonder if he'd be an upgrade right now over MAT.

Not really. Taylor is hot. Robles will have a big adjustment period.

No.  He's not MLB-ready on defense, for one.

And we need to let MAT play for two reasons:

1. MAT is actually improving and it would suck for him to get demoted right now.
2. MAT is improving his trade value and may actually get us something.

Robles has been raking since coming off the DL.  He's now at .303/.400/.935.  Probably a midseason promotion coming here shortly, especially with CF at Harrisburg pretty much open (although Stevenson may need to drop back down as he's really struggling in Syracuse).

do teams have prospects jump over AA anymore?  I mean, way back, I think the Red Sox did this for either Mike Greenwell or Ellis Burks (30 years ago, but both had decent careers).

It seems to me that more teams are having guys skip AAA these days than AA, and I'd be cautious with a guy who is so young and potentially so good.  But I'm not in charge, so maybe they'll do that.

It's not a bad thing that Alec Keller is the one keeping CF warm in AA, either - he's a fringe-type prospect who might have 4th-OF potential but really only if he can play CF.  He's also a little old for a prospect, so one possibility would be to move him up to AAA and see if he can handle it (hitting OK but not great in AA) while evaluating whether he has the range for CF.  Sink or swim, basically.

Stevenson comes back down to AA and plays both LF and RF to get him reps there until he's ready to go back up offensively.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see him in September.   Imagine a 2018 OF of Eaton/Robles/Harper.

If Taylor and Goodwin don't slow down (I know, unlikely), we don't have to replace Werth next year, and can spend his money somewhere else. Taylor and Goodwin can platoon in CF and Robles can come up when someone gets hurt.

I would.  I think Rizzo learned his lesson with the misuse of Turner in 2015...

Is he injured again? Believe he has not played for the last three games (min two games)?

Taken out of tonight's game in the 2nd inning, appears to be an injury...
