Wow.  Remember when baseball fans naged about the AL All-Star team was nothing but Red Sox and/or Yankees.  Hats off to AL fans for not allowing Boston/New York bias to take over.

I was just coming here to type that, really stunning to see it spelled out, neither team really has any all stars with that payroll

BTW, my Nationals All-Star ballot would be Harper, Scherzer, and Storen. Harper and Scherzer (yes) should start.

What on earth is going on with Teixeira? How can you be hitting .236 while striking out <13% of the time and having a >.300 ISO? He has a .188 BABIP!?!? Only a 16% line drive rate?

I'm looking at his stats and feel like I'm reading Martian.

None of our other position players deserve it. Span and Escobar arguably reserves, but that's it.

The all-star fan voting is a joke, there's no way it can't be. There's Royals players on the list at every position, evidently there's a bunch of losers in KC storming the voting.

Lots of Cardinals too.  Bob Carpenter has been busy.

Scherzer, Storen are locks. I'd love to see Span get a nod.
Ramos?
What other NL C's would be on the list, other than Yadi?

...just like the Canadiens supporters stuffing the NHL ballot box a couple of years ago...and of course the premier baseball example, supporters of a second-division Cincinnati Reds team in the late 1950's placing eight of that team's players in the NL All-Star starting line-up (which embarrassed MLB so much that fan voting was discontinued for a decade thereafter). Just a sorry lot of people with no life and nothing better to do than sit in front of a computer keyboard or carry a smartphone round all day and keep hitting the submit button...a crass popularity and name-exposure-level contest.

Red Sox fans used to put their crappy players into the All Star starting lineup all the time via the fan vote. I'm glad the Royals are sticking it to them this time.
