I bet Rizzo tries to package Goodwin along with another prospect(not Robles obviously)for a veteran SP to replace Ross.

Robles will start the year in the minors. If Eaton struggles to recover from the ACL and/or Robles is tearing it up, he'll get called up.

His emergence is just about the best thing to come out of this season.  Hope he maintains this level of performance and also does even better next year.  And it would be nice to have our OF be healthy and complete next year.

Taylor starting All-star next season. We learned that he is a great CF, fast, and hits with power. Now everyone knows.

MAT for a long career.

Yeah, the one positive(well that and Stras proving he's tough enough)of this postseason was Taylor stepping up. He should firmly be hitting 5th or 6th next year, if not higher.

I would be more than okay, with MAT in right field, with 'eaton' in center, and with 'robles' being in left...when 'harper' leaves...

I think it will be Eaton in left, MAT in center and Robles in right.  Possibly other way around with Taylor and Robles, but I think Mikey keeps center.  The question is whether his offence holds steady enough to be an everyday outfielder.  Looks great right now, but the strikeouts are still a big issue.  If he can cut them down to 140 over a full season, we can live with it.

I just hope we don't try to get too cute next year and give his spot to Robbles. This post season should earn him the starting job next year

I think Rizzo sends Robles to Harrisburg to get a season of at bats. He'll be the first guy up if an outfielder gets injured long-term.

Finalist for Gold Glove

That's Really impressive. Great for him. I think Enciarte will will it. But I am not as sure as I am at say 3rd base.

I'd imagine that Robles for however long it takes to get the extra year of TC at the minimum.

Nice article on Michael A, his success last year, and the roster options it creates.  I/M/O, he kind of screams out "sell high," perhaps in the middle of next year when Robles is past his super 2 date.   His fate is likely dependent in large part on Bryce's future.  It isn't that bad of a starting point to have Eaton - Robles - Taylor as plan B if you don't re-sign Bryce, especially if somehow Soto stays on track and neither he nor Goodwin are traded.  You don't replace Bryce's power that way, but Soto is a wild card and Robles / Taylor / Goodwin should be productive.

I've always agreed with this. I think the right question to ask is, was last year MAT's peak in "luck"? Even if he is making better quality contact, he still had a BABIP of .363 last year, and only the best hitters can sustain something close to that. He's not going to look as good, with the same great contact, if he's only hitting .240 instead of a BABIP-inflated .270. .240/.290/.450 is going to have everyone "wanting" to like Michael A. Taylor again.

I think there's probably an overestimation of his ability to improve, because he looks like he's 14 years old. But he's going to be 27 next year, and these are his past three years BB/K ratios:

2015: 6.8/30.9
2016: 5.9/32.5
2017: 6.7/31.7

Really good chance you've seen the MAT at the plate that you're going to see in the future, in which case you're hoping for him to BABIP .350+ to even be a decent hitter. Love him, but would deal him for a decent package at the deadline.

I think...therefore I am.... Dusty had a great deal to do with getting the best out of Michael A. Not that it should now but I wonder  how he will respond to a new manager...his 3rd maybe 4th in the big tent
