The Opening Night game was truly bizarre.  How can you have a game at Wrigley and not have bleacher bums?  I really hope they lose 100 games this year.

I think Rizzo has a friend who wants to have a talk with you.

8 CONSECUTIVE times. The record is 12, and that's a pitcher (Sandy Koufax).

Rangers screwed up their home opener. Band started playing the national anthem while the announcer was still introducing them. As a result of the band jumping the gun, there was a long awkward pause between "...and the home of the brave" and the scheduled fighter jet flyover.

Someone needs to remember this game when the talking heads are griping about expanded rosters in September.  It's better to have 13 pitchers for games like this than destroying the arm of the last man in your bullpen because you have no more pitchers going into the 19th inning.

Mets reliever Jenrry Mejia suspended 80 games for using Stanozolol, a PED. He is not appealing, but says he has no idea how it got in his system.

Wikipedia says Stanozolol is detectable up to 10 days after its use, so Mejia's memory blank is, uh, recent.

That was nice to see.

Also fun to see the Padres finally show some offense.

If he can somehow improve his throwing, he'll have a very good career.

He probably took it after his elbow flare-up on Monday.

Ryan Madson pitching for the Royals. I'm surprised he's still pitching. I thought injuries did him in for good.

Pretty much. I thought they'd improve a bit this year with the addition of Santana and the probability that Nolasco would rebound somewhat, but I'd guess that they're probably the favorites to have the worst record in baseball right now. Maybe Kurt Suzuki will be available at the deadline.
