Blevins spent the better part of last year and this spring pitching like AAA fodder. If you're gonna have a super LOOGY you can't rely on, don't waste 2.4 on him.

He was perfectly reliable as a LOOGY.  Williams/Rizzo was determined to have him pitch against right handed batters for some reason.

den Dekker has options and years of control.  good for outfield depth behind the veterans.

Looking at his power numbers,K + BB %, he looks like he cut down on his swing to make more consistent contact.  Could be a nice bench player.

Bad for the bullpen in the World Series or Bust year.

#Mets took on Blevins’ entire $2.4M salary. Straight-up trade for den Dekker. No cash in deal.
Good for Lerners.

well, that's why cedeno or matt grace makes it as 2d lefty.  we can still afford to dl Janssen because we have 5 righties Storen (rub some dirt on that blister), Stammen, Treinen, Roark, and Barrett.

And now...

It's been a whole 3 minutes since the #Nats made news, so they just announced they've signed OF Reed Johnson to a minor-league deal.

I guess this means McLouth is done.

For a team that has all the pieces, they sure are adding a lot of pieces.

Makes sense, Grace is probably better than him. Maybe he starts at AAA and comes up if Cedeno is ineffective the first few weeks.

I like the den Dekker acquisition. I know Rizzo likes the in house options, but I kind of want to add another power arm to the bullpen before the season starts. Any thoughts on who could be available?

Taylor needs to be the starting CF and play all year in the majors.

This really hurts Gwynn's chances of being on the 25 man....I was rooting for him.

Charlie and Dave must be thrilled.

I remember one of the games v the Mets when they had an absolute nightmare with the spelling. Think the bell was rung three times in the end.

Ken Giles is having a so-so spring, maybe Rizzo can dangle useless veteran dead weight and pry him from Amaro.

I don't hate his chances at this point. Frandsen might be done though. Espinosa on 3rd plus a new OF = You're redundant.

So who is the backup 2nd/SS/3rd baseman while Rendon is out?

Stewart 3B. Uggla 2B with Escobar sliding over if need be for a SS.

Stewart and Gwynn should make the team. Or Uggla and Gwynn. I dunno. I'm just spitballing. But Frandsen is bringing almost nothing at this point.

Yeah, I haven't seen him using that grit factor to as great of an impact as he could.

Heck yeah, nice trade.  There could be a little bit of upside in his bat based on his limited MLB experience, and he apparently plays all 3 outfield positions quite competently.  Small move that could pay dividends, especially when the Nats are shorthanded for a while to start the season.
