I finally entered the modern era and signed up for Netflix this weekend (after getting a Roku stick). So far I've just binged on The IT Crowd. Lots more to explore but i've been disappointed in the movie selection so far.
Watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for the first time. It's really great.
Pbs documentary on both the making of Hamilton, and Alexander Hamilton himself. One of the best 90 minutes of TV I've ever seen. On demand stream: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/
Fantastic, Lin Manuel Miranda is the most talented person on the planet.
I'm avoiding all things Hamilton until I can see it on stage.
It will be at Kennedy center next year. Tickets in NYC run $300-600 on StubHub
As amazing as that sounds, I'll probably just wait until it gets a little closer to where I live.
it just opened in Chicago.....
If I had a date to take with me on a weekend get away, I'd be all over that. Hopefully I will by the time it gets to Kansas City or Omaha. It's coming to Des Moines sometime before those, so who knows...
I'm biased as hell but the Smithsonian Channel ran an episode on its "Planes That Changed the World" series (replays coming up) on the SR-71 Blackbird. Good stuff.
Fun trivia fact. The friction when it flew at speed caused so much heat the plane grew 1.5' or so longer during flights. When it sat in the hangar afterwards, it sounded like someone was hitting it with a hammer as the metal shrank to normal size.
Great plane. I was tellin' my niece about the plane "expanding" and "shrinking" when we visited Udvar-Hazy about a week ago.
My father's name is on panel 19 on the Wall of Honor.
I was lucky enough to see Hamilton on Broadway this February with Miranda, Odom, etc. Did I post about it in the vacation thread? Seems to me skippy wanted a report at the time...anyway, it truly is an awesome live experience and tremendously energetic. Wouldn't mind seeing it again when the tour hits Houston. My friend in NYC has tickets to see it for the FIFTH time in January. She's such a lucky bastard. She even won the lotto for $10 seats on her birthday.
