@chasehughesCSN: The #Nats have agreed to terms with Max Scherzer, improving what was already the game's best rotation: http://t.co/C9pxjEDR3P #NationalsTalk

I do not understand this at all.

I mean, if it's for 150 mil or less I think I can stand it. But Zimmermann would have been cheaper and more prime years.

I wonder what the corresponding move will be. It'd be really fun if there wasn't one.

Scherzer, Strasburg, Zimmermann, Gio, Fister. :az:

There aren't any available.  Hitting is a tough commodity to acquire anymore.  That doesn't mean the Nats could improve with a deal that sends Desmond and/or a pitcher to another team to get a hitter in return.

They're not done yet. They have a SP to trade.

It is already assumed that the Nats trade a pitcher.  It makes sense that the Nats covet a 2B/SS type that can help now and they have a better chance of getting a more proven commodity for a JZimm/Desmond rather than taking a compensation pick that will likely not help the team for a few years at best.  Keep the window open rather than having it shut then reopen.

True, it's just last year we got Fister and he was totally awesome but we lost in the playoffs because we just couldn't get a couple of runs when it mattered, I hate to see history repeating itself this year.

As a Braves fan, it makes me feel even better about General Manager John Hart trading away Gattis, Heyward, and Upton, because with the pitching staff The Nationals have now assembled it wouldn't have mattered anyways.

At this point Boras should just buy an ownership piece of the team.

The Blackhawks will hold the opponent single game scoring record at Nats park this entire calendar year.

jzimm does not want to be here, obviously. He has repeatedly said he wants to test the FA market.

So what kind of package can we send to LA for Kershaw?

Rosenthal says deal is over $180 million. So much for cutting salary.

membership revenue for the LAC club might not make budget projections this year.

Why? There's no salary cap in baseball and the Nats are a big market team with the wealthiest owner in the sport.

Getting Scherzer sets up the unloading of a pitcher. If it's JZimm I'm not happy. I also am not looking forward to losing Desi. Any big boppers in our lower levels ready for the big jump?
