BB America's latest list of our top 10 prospects:1. Giolito2. Taylor3. Lopez4. Fedde5. Souza6. Cole7. Difo8. Ward9. Goodwin10. PivettaI'd say it's likely that Cole, Taylor, and Souza will all spend more time with the big league club than at Syracuse next year.
Cole moved down because he's a year older.Turner might be #3. He's #96 on http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2014/#list=prospects top 100 prospects. Taylor is 65, nobody lower is in the top 100 except for Cole. Ross was #10 on the Padres on the BB American 2014 list, they haven't released the 2015 list but this list (http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/oct/03/padres-top-20-prospects-2014-offseason-rankings/#&panel1-1) had him at #3
Ross above turner- I don't think I've seen anyone else with that view
BA top 12 (including Turner and Ross)1. Giolito2. Turner3. Taylor4. Lopez5. Fedde6. Ross7. Cole8. Difo9. Ward10. Goodwin11. Pivetta12. Voth
That could be what, 7 top 100 guys in Cole on up.
How is Fedde ahead of Cole if he's not done a damn thing?
the rankings rate potential. My guess is that they think Cole, given his age, is pretty much developed as far as he will go whereas Fedde could be better.Turning Souza into two top 10 prospects is still amazing.
Cole is going to be 23 years old next season. That still doesn't make sense. Fedde will be 22 and not pitching.
I think if you base it on potential, then the next "wave" should replace these guys:Strasburg -> GiolitoZimmermann -> FeddeGonzalez -> RossFister -> ColeHell, if they all live up to their hype, that will be a damn good rotation. I could actually see that being the rotation in 2017.
1. Lucas Giolito2. Reynaldo Lopez3. Joe Ross4. A.J. Cole5. Erick Fedde or Austin VothThat's not a bad prospect rotation. Even if a few of them go bust, we should be okay in 2017.
are we writing Johanson off as bullpen fodder?
