You have to temper the enthusiasm some when you realize that he is strictly a rental.  No way he's back 2015.   If Walters turns out to be a star, then five years from now we may see this deal somewhat differently.   Still, I would not have hesitated to make the deal.

Non-contending teams don't rent.  Years of putting together a team and getting to the point of where you are contending can't be held up by an injury.  I don't want Espinosa starting in the post-season.  This is huge.

I think Cabrera is back in2015. He has contributed. The organization does not want Esi at 2B.

Not just Phil Wood, I have seen it many places that the Yankees are going to go after Cabrera to replace Jeter.  We wont be able to afford to keep him so enjoy his brief time here.

I'll enjoy him while he's here. Help us win a ring and then go get your money.

I love this guy and would hope we'd keep him.  Remember the play where he's running into second and it looked like he had his teeth knocked out or was suffering a concussion?  The next minute, he was back out at his position.  He's tough and he's real real good.

Who knows what the Yankees will do? Ever.

This year, they spent a staggering amount and have a second or third-place team. The Mets are building up -- they have good young pitchers and three or four solid position players. Would hurt the Yankees with the fans who switch between competing teams, and the Yankees have been top team in NY since about 1995. Maybe the Steinbrenners decide to build through draft and development. Buying free-agents has not worked.

They won a world series five years ago, not exactly an epic drought

They'll overpay for him and he'll play great. But they will overpay. And he'll have a ring already.

29-17 since they traded for him.

Meanwhile, Zach Walters hitting .172/.235/.410 with a 35% K rate

he's been a solid replacement for Danny, but i'll still take Zimmerman over .229 / .315 / .403 (.212 / .288 / .385 in September).

I agree. But is he as bad as a Zimmerman who still needs 100 ABs

that's a tough one.  Zimm's return from the DL last time resulted in around a .200 average for the first 30 games or so before he finally heated up.  However that was a thumb injury so it more directly impacted his swing.  I still think Williams plays Zimmerman if he's healthy.

I would really be amazed if there isn't ALOT of platooning through the playoffs.  Let's assume Ryan is ready for fulltime.  There's no reason not to have many share positions and have those not starting be ready for pinch hitting.  LaRouche, Cabrera, Desmond, Espinosa, and Zimmerman should share the platooning roles.

Anyone else follow this guy on instagram? He pretty clearly missed the No No because he went to his kid's game. Or at least that is how the timing looks.

Farewell, Asdrubal. You did what you were asked to do, and nobody missed Walters yet.
