Good outing. Only three innings and 47 pitches. Was it raining or injured or???

Web site said he tweaked something chasing a ball and they took him out for precautionary reasons.

That's fine. He's got a ways to go. No reason to learn bad habits due to injury.

This guy reminds me of Syndergaard

Any reports on his velo/pitch selection? 9 Ks is nice to hear, though!

I'm more interested in the development of his change up and curve. Velo is nice, but if he's gonna be a starter, has gotta have those too

Said he was sitting at 96MPH while touching 99.

Nice, didn't see that as a new article. Great.

Yup. A must if he's going to be anything more than a BP arm.

With the starters we have and Giolito coming soon seems best to use him in the pen.

Nah, always develop SP till the very end. If nothing else then to be tradebait. Besides, if Strasburg is the real deal the first three years on his deal, I'd imagine he'd be gone anyways.

This. You never know who is going to get hurt or suddenly regress. Or be a trade chip. Rizzo may be more willing to trade a guy like Ross or Roark, knowing that Giolito and Lopez are waiting in the wings.

Wouldn't hurt to bring him up later in the year and put him in the pen. Would be nice if there were some reports about how his breaking ball is coming along.

I wouldn't stop developing him as a starter, but if he can help out of the pen short term, I think you take advantage of it. Him relieving to end the year doesn't mean he can't or won't go back to the rotation in AAA in 2017.

I would consider using him as a multi-inning reliever at the end of the season. Try to find a game every 5-6 days where we're up a bunch of runs after 6 innings, then throw him in there and see if he can close the game and rest the bullpen. Frankly I'd do the same thing with Giolito if he has innings left to pitch. I'd prefer that to switching them over to a 1-IP, max effort type situation.

5 innings, 5 hits, one run, 12 strikeouts
I smell bullpen arm. Don't care what the others here say about needing to keep him as a starter.

I do too,but it's still useful to build him up as a starter. Look at Betances. The ability to give a guy the ball in the 6th and get through the 7th or even 8th is amazing.

Give him some off time and then bring him up in August.

Oh no ... No Lopez is a ways off. They won't give up on him starting for a couple years.

The Cards used some of their starters initially as relievers a few years ago.

What? Oh, you mean traded? I don't see any moves happening, sadly, but either way, I think the Nats (& the scouting community) are really high on him.
