It is...but my calendar has it as the observed day...

That's the spirit.    :)    When you wrote of a "calendar", I thought my gawd he's got a job.   I wake up some days and play "What Day Is It".

I really got messed up last weekend.   I had tickets for Friday  ...   rained out.    Sunday I watched a day game and had tickets for the re-schedule that night.    Messed me up pretty bad.

He had an ARMY golf bag so I inquired  ....  chatted about how he got into it; when he was in Vietnam; how he got attached to units and the best story  ....   He said they'd give him a camera and 6 rolls of film.    He'd mount a truck or helicopter to the unit he was out in the boonies with.   They told him to come back when he took all 6 rolls.     :)      He mentioned his portfolio bein' displayed in various places and had a medallion with one of his photos

Ah, an IQ test, how clever of the Army to sneak that in on him.

We laughed when he said combat photography was the last thing on the list of what he wanted to do.     Yep, that's the way the ARMY does it.

Yup...they give you 2 minutes to read 30 names...my cousin's is the first.

They send you the list of names...there are a few I'll need to work out phonetically in advance.

They tell you to arrive 1 hour early...they may have to update reading times based on pace.

Even with no personal connection, reading names at something like that somehow taps into something really powerful.  I think I'd lose my poise pretty quickly.

I was at Antietam on Saturday.   I was talkin' to one of the Rangers and a guy comes in.   I hear him question another Ranger about the Confederate statues and flags.    He sez he's heard on the news that there's a brouhaha about Confederate flags and statues on public land.   He asked if the Rebel flags and statues were gonna be removed from Antietam.    The Ranger sez, "Sir, this is a Civil War National Battlefield."  We all smiled sort of  ...  :smh:.   The questioner wasn't sure if he got an answer or not.
