Brandon Webb believes his poor performance on Opening Day was a side effect of all the emotions that went with the start of the season.

Webb did not receive a decision in his first start - an 8-6 win over the Colorado Rockies  on Monday. He allowed five runs and eight hits in five innings, finishing with 96 pitches.

The Nationals will hand the ball to John Patterson (0-1, 14.73), who spent his first two major league seasons with the Diamondbacks. The right-hander left after allowing six runs in 3 2-3 innings on Monday in the Nationals' 9-2 loss to the Florida Marlins.

Patterson's start was his first since July 9 after missing the second half of the season following surgery for a strained forearm.

Same old f*cking bullcrap. Patterson is a great ace isn't he?  He wouldn't even make any other team in the MLB's starting rotation.

Please send Casto down to AAA, he's not ready for the big leagues yet.

His problem is good pitchers in the Majors throw strikes. In AAA, you don't swing there is a good chance it won't be a strike. But you can't do that in the Majors against good pitchers.

Okay...so we would have had 2 on no outs with our man Church up (who is 4 for 6 against Webb, with 2 HRs)

Schneider looks at the pitch down the middle and swings at the pitch well out of the strike zone.  What frustrates me the most is our overall team approach at the plate.  We take too many good, hittable pitches and swing at the pitches that are impossible to hit.
