i was under the impression that a team could not trade draft picks (in mlb). Why were Marlins/Pirates able to trade including the #39 overall pick? http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/marlins-trade-39th-pick-to-pirates-for-morris/
MLB allows teams to trade compensatory picks and the bonus pools associated with them, a new feature of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Previously, teams were not allowed to trade draft picks.
