Brandon Beachy said he experienced "discomfort" in right biceps. Said he was unable to finish and locate pitches as he wanted.

Does it say whether the injuries are major or minor?  I wouldn't stress over it.  The typical pitcher gets injured fairly often, with or without TJ.

Precisely.   Both Strasburg and Zimmermann were injured last year.

Olney says he can't see any way that Atlanta adds any more payroll.

Atlanta Fans around here really need someone to talk them off the ledge right now. No wait, let 'em go.

2:21pm: O'Brien hears from a person connected to the Royals that the Braves may now be making a run at Santana (Twitter link). In addition to Medlen's injury, Brandon Beachy left today's Spring Training start with biceps tightness.

This is precisely the reason why Rizzo needed to get off his ass and had this done already.

Beachy will be fine. Medlen will be fine.

If this was Stras and JZimm, you would be crapping yourself.

If the reports are true that the Braves are talking to Santana, that would pretty much confirm that Medlen is out.

Is Medlen on one of the new long term contracts?  Freeman, Kimbrel, Simmons, . . .

7:26pm: After throwing a 2-inning simulated game today, Santana may still wait a day or two before choosing a destination, reports Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com (Twitter links, in Spanish).

The Braves are indeed very interested, with financial concerns the main limitation. Meanwhile, the Royals have put in a call on Santana. The Blue Jays and Orioles have standing offers out, Rojas adds.

Wren says Medlen's MRI showed damage around the right elbow ligament. But they will wait a few more days to make a decision

Snake handlers, but I understand one went on the permanent DL a couple of months ago.

Seriously, what are the odds it's getting better on it's own?

Sounds like there is some uncertainty with mri's on TJ repaired ligaments, and is getting a second opinion.  Isn't that what they were saying about RG3 at first too?

I feel way too much bad mojo if I even try to smile about how this will help the Nats.  Pitcher's arms have got to be about the most delicate body part in sports, and can sure sink a season quickly.  Let's shut all ours down now!
