Thinking that a 4 game sweep of LA unlikely, I'm taking my youngest daughter to Game 5 of the Blackhawks / Kings series in Chicago.

She hasn't been there since the day after Xmas in 2008...but that was where she developed her love of hockey...at her first ever game.

That's great.  Good on ya.

I lived in Vancouver in '92 when everyone was rooting for the Blackhawks (who had just swept the Red Wings) when they played Edmonton in the conference finals.  Too bad you guys got Lemieuxed.

I don't follow the NHL closely, but it looks like the Rangers have a heck of a nice representation of from the NCAA D1 eastern conferences.  Gionta, Moore, and Kreider for starters, and I did not catch if there were others.  A friend of mine is friends with a former Brown player who played for the Rangers a while back (forget the name, but have gone to games with him).

I think 25% of the NHL played college, but the Rangers seem to have a number of prominent players rather than role guys.

USA and Canada both bomb out of the quarterfinals in the World Championships as usual.  I suppose the NHL playoffs may have something to do with that, though plenty of European players are still tied up as well.

Looking at the bright side, watching Chimera, Brouwer, Ward, Ovie, Grabovski, and Grubauer (did I forget anyone?) playing in late May was fun, even if it wasn't in Caps kit.

Kopitar is a beast.  Never expected to see Slovenia in the hunt for an Olympic hockey medal until that guy came along.

Kane is nifty. That play for the third goal looked like someone playing a different game than everyone else. Keith also gets credit for getting open

http://www.uscho.com/2014/05/14/for-players-right-out-of-college-world-championship-can-serve-as-pro-springboard/

Article on guys who played in the world pro championships straight out of college.  this year, 2 forwards from BC (Gaudreau, Kevin hayes) and one defenseman from Wisconsin (Jake McCabe) saw regular playing time while a 4th, goalie Connor Hellebuyck, i don't think dressed.
