We got lucky and had morse for a career year. Getting traded was the best thing that ever happened to his reputation because if he was sitting in left not hitting and constantly getting injured this year, people would be calling for his scalp. I don't think there is another player I'm more sick of hearing about, I wanted to keep him, but Rizzo was absolutely correct in getting rid of him

exactly. no chance we get Cole AND Krol for Morse right now. Perfect timing to trade him, got a great haul.

Remember when our projected #1 starter was Collin Balester?

He could throw it left handed between his legs while blind folded and be twice as good as anybody on their staff. He should be up in 2014 and be their #1 by 2015.

we will have is not the same as it is possible we will have - right now Cole and giolito are the only ones under team control in 2017

we have gio if we want him, team option in 2017, vesting option in 2018. i cant imagine we dont have one of Jzimm or Stras. Our rotation should still be in decent shape without meyer, especially if Giolito(or one of our other prospects) develops. pitching is an organizational strength, if meyers pans out good for the twins.

baseball reference has harper as arb eligible in 2016 and a free agent in 2019.

he was referring to the rotation. i think we at least will have one of jzimm or stras in 2017, so a potential rotation of stras and/or jzimm, gio, giolito, jordan or cole or solis or etc is pretty solid. span turned into a solid contributor and could easily be a solid starter on a playoff team net year. prob be around for the year after that to ease goodwin into the lineup. i think we got pretty solid value from the trade.

We have 3 years of arb with Stras.  2014 - 2016.  We have 2 more seasons with JZ.

Mesa wins 9-3 in the season finale, clinching the best record in the AFL (19-11-1) and a spot in the championship game on Saturday.

Solis started today and got the win.  His line, 5IP, 6H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 4SO.

If they follow the rotation as they have, Purke is scheduled to start the championship game.

One more thing, this is the third time in the last four years that the team that the Nationals players have been assigned to has played in the AFL championship game.  The one year where they didn’t was 2011, the year when Harper and Trout were teammates.
