Updated: Morse Traded to Orioles
« Topic Start: August 29, 2013, 11:43:55 AM »
I personally don't think Morse's departure has been that much of a negative (although we all know we could have used his bat), but this does create a rather interesting situation.

Michael Morse recently went on waivers. #mariners, considering their circumstance, should make effort to trade.

I'd sure like to have his bat in our line-up.

Morse is the Surgeons Scalpel that will cut out this clubhouse cancer.

Plus, it should take care of the "take on me" curse.

We don't need any more delicate flowers on this team.

That's my main issue, can't stay healthy.  Otherwise he's solid.

Just in:

Michael Morse has been claimed on revocable waivers by an unknown team, according to @JonHeymanCBS. #Mariners

Bush League Baltimore Orioles once again shove a stick up Washington's nose.

Revocable waivers? Beat the Baltimore offer. Bring Morse back. Last time I looked, the Nats were number 12 in scoring among all 15 NL teams. Have walloped the Marlins by a whole one run per game in this series.

Rizzo has verbally trashed him...he can't bring him back...

It's cute when people don't know how waiver trades work. There is no beating an offer. That is the reason for the non-waiver deadline and the waiver trade period. You beat offers in the July portion. In August, the claiming team is the only one that can deal. If Mariners pull him back (they shouldn't, they should just award Baltimore the claim and wipe their hands with it) and don't trade him to Baltimore, they can't put him back on waivers.

Why do we even think Morse would improve our offense, anyway? He has a 90 wRC+ on the season. Not even counting his horrible fielding, he's a worse offensive performer than any of our three starting outfielders.

Let go of the past, people.

I know when asked about the Morse trade Rizzo talks about the big return (AJ Cole) he needed since Morse was talented. I've searched google for news coverage about Rizzo trashing Michael Morse at the appreciation day but can't find anything.  What did he say?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:  at people clamoring to bring Morse to DC.

You all realize he's been absolutely terrible in Seattle and literally has one really good season under his belt?

Great guy. Not worth acquiring.

This. Morse has been beset by injuries. Was anyone really surprised when he got off to that hot start?

I'd love if Morse came back.  (It'd be great if he went to the O's too.)  But I guess that opinion is news to no on here

A nicer way to put it.

/niceness police

The wRC+ is kind of damning.  We all know he's a below average fielder in left, so we can expect a mark down on WAR before taking account of his hitting.

I forget, is wRC+ adjusted for playing time, or is he being measured against full time players?  If the latter, then his injuries would tamp down his runs created.
