Notable:
- 1969, August 24, Nats won their 65th game, against 62 losses, beating, no kidding, the Kansas City Royals 10 - 3, Casey Cox pitching a complete game win as the Nats pounded a half-dozen KC pitchers for 14 hits. I remember Galen Cisco and Mike Drabowsky, but the others are just names. By the way, Nats were 6-for-10 with RISP.
- 1925, August 6, Nats beat the St Louis Browns 10 - 3, with Walter Johnson winning his 15th game, against 5 losses. Record now 65 - 36. Nats had ten hits. Also had five of the starting nine with OPS over .800, including John: OPS = .971, BA = .415. No kidding. Conclusion: if your team wins its 65th game on August 6, it might well win the pennant.
The 2013 team has a chance to catch the 1969 team, who foinsihed with 86 wins (I think). Just win the next game.
