What should Rendon's nickname be?

The Grin: no need for explanation
7 (11.7%)
El Martillo:  Spanish for "The Hammer;" earned by the comparison of his wrists and swing to Aaron's
5 (8.3%)
Tony "Two bags":  in honor of his doubles, not his once and maybe future position. sounds vaguely mobbish.
29 (48.3%)
The Hitman:  also has mob overtones
19 (31.7%)

When was the last time a guy who didn't make the All-Star team won league MVP?

Tony Two Bags has stuck. I think it's too late to change this.

Paulson makes a compelling argument to move Rendon to 2.

People have been saying he should be moved there ever since Eaton went down, and especially when Werth did too. Dude's the best hitter on the team, maybe in the league. He shouldn't be in the back half of the lineup.

He's been making that argument for a while. He's right. Rendon gets way more at bats if you hit him number 2. I get that you don't want take a guy out of a groove, but when you're hitting Goodwin and Difo at the top of the lineup, you can't take away at bats from Rendon.

Personally, with a healthy lineup, I think he should be hitting cleanup

Rendon was an MVP candidate hitting second infront of Werth back in 2014. He'll shred anywhere.

My guess for Rendon in that spot is that the Nats have gotten enough production in the second slot, whoever has hit there. And Rendon down in six protects Zim and Murphy in the second inning and later. I still think Murphy is disciplined enough he'll rake whoever hits behind him.

I want:

Goodwin
Rendon
Harper
Zim
Murph
Wieters
Left Field Platoon
Difo

Rendon is a cornerstone. Extend!

If I'm Rizzo I try to lock up Rendon for a long-term deal this winter. Guy is a freaking stud.

No. He's not hard nosed enough and smiles too much when the team is losing,  for some of the posters here.

Of course Rendon should bat second. I think Baker believes in protection. I think he likes Rendon protecting Murphy and Murphy protecting Zimmerman all the way up. It's old-fashioned but I get it.

Exactly.  He enjoys his job too much.  That's just not right.  And he doesn't follow the unwritten rules of baseball.  He's a disgrace!

Rendon named NL player of the week.
Should have been called "Player of the Weekend".

Rendon is like the guy at the office who is brilliant at what he does but is completely goofy. When it comes time to go out of drinks, I would "forget" to ask him. I respect him a lot, but his personality (or lack thereof) just grates on me to no end. He just seems to have no gravitas. ;)

In the end it's a kids game. He apparently has lots of fun.

He's like a date who giggles all the time. Okay, you're having fun, I get it, but laughing like a hyena is grating as all get out.

When it comes time to go out for drinks, I would forget to ask you. Goofy people are the kind of people you WANT to ask to go for drinks.

Rendon's personality is part of his appeal. Pretending baseball is for stoic silent types who never have emotions is something that went out of style 10 years ago.

Takes all types. I've never once had an issue with Rendon's temperament.

Uh, no. Goofy people only get goofier with drinks, and that crap gets old quickly. You know, laughing loudly and inappropriately and getting on the nerves of everyone in earshot.

I have often found its the quiet ones who get loud. Everyone is different.

Yep. It takes all types. I've just gotten to the point in my life where I know why types I like.
