The sad thing is we'll never know. Rendon could've driven in the run or he could have popped out.

His skill set is obviously tremendous — I’m not questioning that one bit. A player with a plus-plus hit tool, above-average power, and enough speed (regardless of injuries) to swipe ~15 bases is a no-doubter of a fantasy commodity.

What I am questioning is his health skill. Rendon’s upside is still that of a perennial all-star. His downside is clearly, concisely stated in that exhaustive list of injuries up above.

Now that I have this written, I’m glad I pursued this topic. I’ve found the answer to my original question. We’re talking about a player who has now suffered six significant injuries — and undergone three surgeries — in his age 18-to-25 seasons. Even if he hits something like .325/.400/.600 over the season’s final month, how much stock are you buying in a 25-year-old who has averaged 0.86 significant injuries per season?

Hitting .286/.377/.514 over his last 30 games, pushing his season slash line to .260/.343/.431. That is not a whole long way from his 2014 line of .287/.351/.473. If you put your head in the sand and like April didn't happen, Rendon is actually hitting better than 2014. He's also been healthy this season. Second most games played on the team.

Right now Werth's OBP is high enough you want him in the 2 slot, but I'm looking forward to the day Rendon slots back in that 2 hole and is is banging in doubles and tons of RBIs thanks to Turner.

Rendon strikes me as the type of guy that doesn't really love the game, just plays it because he's really good at it. Remember his quote about baseball being boring? Then he just casually tosses the triple play ball into the stands.

Good ballplayer but I don't think he'll ever really live up to his talent because he'll never really care enough to make that extra effort to be great.

Rendon is on a run now. He has now raised his career average in OBP and slugging, and he's hitting dingers at the same rate as 2014. His average is still down, but his BABIP is under .300 for the first time in his career.

To be fair, he said he didn't like watching it on TV. Rendon's line since the beginning of May is now .273/.359/.498 with 15 homers and 11 steals over that time.

He's so freaking good with the bat. Also a solid glove and base runner. If he were to stay healthy he's an all around star at third.

I'm really glad to see it.  With his so, so start with the bat I was getting worried.  Clearly an overreaction as he looks like the stud again that I remember from 2014.
