What should Rendon's nickname be?

The Grin: no need for explanation
7 (11.7%)
El Martillo:  Spanish for "The Hammer;" earned by the comparison of his wrists and swing to Aaron's
5 (8.3%)
Tony "Two bags":  in honor of his doubles, not his once and maybe future position. sounds vaguely mobbish.
29 (48.3%)
The Hitman:  also has mob overtones
19 (31.7%)

Throws well? I coached 9 year olds who had a better throwing motion. And he has possibly one of the weakest arms I've ever seen on a big leaguer.
you should check out Juan Pierre sometime.

Lombo is the perfect guy for the role he's in now. Not gonna kill ya for a short period of time at multiple positions if pressed into action, though he doesn't jump off the page at ya in terms of ability.  Every team needs a couple guys like that.

Lombo's arm is average.

He fields well

He has above average speed but nothing special.

if well means barely average, at best, at his primary position, then yes, he fields well.  If it means strong range, then no.

Lombo gives us "professional at bats" and has a "high baseball IQ".   He's very "hitterish" and loves the "front door curves".   Hold on, "there goes the no hitter".

Susceptible to "jammage", however.

But a scrappy player if I've ever seen one.

So he's white then :)

(the working class definitions, like 'brings the lunch pail to work' or variants thereof, tend to go to the white players haha)

Willing to bunt if it wins the game; contrasting with elegant swing&miss strikeouts to end the rally/ball game.

Fangraphs article alluding to Rendon's "can't-miss" potential:

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/identify-cant-miss-prospects-using-this-one-weird-trick/

Basically, those who have the best hit, plate discipline and defense tools in their organization tend to become pretty good major leaguers.

Oh, and have we discussed the articles on how much weight this kid can lift now? I wouldn't be surprised by a significant increase in home runs this year.

Funny that another Fangraphs writer ripped into Rendon.

http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/2014-pods-picks-2nd-base/

http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/mike-podhorzers-2014-bold-predictions/

Fantasy brings out the worst in sports analysis. Oh no, Rendon won't steal bases, BFD.
