What should Rendon's nickname be?

The Grin: no need for explanation
7 (11.7%)
El Martillo:  Spanish for "The Hammer;" earned by the comparison of his wrists and swing to Aaron's
5 (8.3%)
Tony "Two bags":  in honor of his doubles, not his once and maybe future position. sounds vaguely mobbish.
29 (48.3%)
The Hitman:  also has mob overtones
19 (31.7%)

Hopefully Espinosa can take some of Davey's advice adn get his swing back in order so he can replace Lombo as the primary backup middle infielder before he gets cut at the end of the year.
There is 0 chance Espinosa gets cut at the end of this year.  0.

The worst case for danny is that he gets cut next year rather than put on the 25 man. But if his shoulder is still injured, there is always the 60 day dl

What's with all the talk about cutting him. I would think that there is some trade value for him. Not much, but some, right?

Really?  What do you do with him?  What are his options?  I don't see him coming back as a backup.  I don't see him going to AAA.  Maybe a trade, but you won't get anything of value back.

Keep him at AAA until his value goes back up. Get whatever you can and move on.

There is less of a chance of Espinosa playing in AAA next year than there is of the Nats cutting him.  They aren't going to pay him to stay in Syracuse.

If he finishes the season in AAA will he even be arbitration eligible- and even if he is, what will he get between his stat line in the pros and finishing the year in AAA- of all the variables at play, I don't think salary will be a big one

Espinosa had over 2 years to start the season.  I believe he will be eligible, but I could be wrong on that.  He has service time activated until about the last week in June.  (including 15 day DL).

He makes over 500k this year.  At the very least, he has a raise from that.

Neil Walker was first year eligible this year.  He makes 3.3 million.  That can be used as a gauge if Espinosa is eligible.

Neil walker was coming off a .280/.342/.426 year, Espinosa will be coming off a a .158/.193/.272 first half with a second half spent in aaa.

Agree. They'll move him in the offseason. But let's see what the rest of the year holds for Mr. Espinosa.

Don't they use career numbers?

Espinosa's glove alone still has tons of value.  What he put up two years ago might be his best, but a .240/.320/.410 guy with 18-20 homers a season playing gold glove defense at short stop is a hell of a player to have.  He isn't being traded for a front line pitcher straight up, but many winning teams would start him at SS or even 2B.

Rendon is the real deal.  I think the Nats are very focused on leaving him at 2B to develop his defense.  He has done admirably so far at 2B and I think he will grow into at as he progresses.  Probably won't be GG like Espinosa, but he isn't Dan Uggla either.

No there's not.  They're not just gonna cut ties with the kid.  He either stays in the organization or he gets traded.  They're not gonna let him go without something in return.

granted it's the most context dependent stat there is, but the RBIs really jump out- I would have thought rendon would have had far more
