I think the biggest key is they have to get him to commit fully to getting healthy. Whether that is surgery or strictly rehab, he needs to put as much determination in to it as he does in to playing
Double yes. Cannot even trade him if he is a .200 hitter who will lead the league in strikeouts every year.

This. Plenty of athletes have made a lot of money and ended up in bankruptcy.
I don't think you understand Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
I do understand a guy who made millions going before a judge and explaining that he hasn't paid child support in six months because the only cash he has to his name isn't enough to buy a value meal at McDonalds
