[This is Strasburg's second appearance on an SI cover - he made his first one following his 2010 debut, and later that year he had to go in for Tommy John surgery - he has already known THE JINX!]

Jinxes don't exist. You tend to get on the SI cover after you do something so amazing that it deserves being on the cover more than what everybody else does, and you tend not to keep being that amazing for long because nobody can. It's just like the Heat couldn't win forever.

That type of clear thinking still won't stop certain idiots from complaining about Bob Carpenter jinxing our players. It's kind of funny to hear people joke about curses and jinxes, because it is hard to believe that anyone over the age of 3 could believe is such nonsense, but every once in a while you actually encounter people who seem to actually believe stuff like the curse of the Bambino or the Billygoat. It's a safe assumption that no one actually takes this stuff seriously, if if they pretent to. But there are some loons out there.

Makes sense - hadn't realised when I filled the title field to capacity that it would come out that wide.
