Back up plan if Gio is suspended?
« Topic Start: January 29, 2013, 06:23:12 PM »
I'm completely upset with Gio and Espinosa. If we stayed healthy without those two and didn't make the as. Would you blame those two if we didn't make it? If Gio is guilty where do we move for here you think? If I'm the lerners I would mad after giving him that extension. If guilty, do we move him maybe?

You are overreacting.  So far all he did was purchase non banned substances from a place that sold banned substances to MLB players.  Right now he is only able to be suspended by probable cause from the commissioner.  He has never tested positive before so it would have to be a version of guilty by association and I think the MLBPA would fight that.

If he really did do steroids then he gets suspended 50 games and the team moves on.  He probably gets drug tested way more often and if he pops a positive test, then you go forth with more repercussions.  He isn't going anywhere right now.

If this crap is not banned can it be procured anywhere else more reputable? If so, why the freak did this idiot go to these lengths to get it from a sleazy "outfit"?

Don't forget lying on Twitter, since you're assuming Gio purchased a substance from Tony Bosch, which he denies.

Untrue.  He said he doesn't know Tony Bosch.  Who is to say that he bought from Tony himself and not just the "company" in which he operates.  I buy from Amazon but that doesn't mean that I know the CEO.  Not trying to be mean, but this is something that can be argued in court.  His words are specific enough to state he doesn't know Tony, that isn't the same as saying he didn't buy something from his company.

Also, all this talk of him buying from a sleazy outfit is kinda wacky too.  How does anyone know before this story is released that this clinic is dirty?  Unless he has inside info and indeed wants illegal steroids, he isn't going around saying "Hey I would like to buy training supplies and supplements from you but I need to know if you are selling any illegal banned substances to other MLB players in the case that they get indicted for using steroids."  Again, the argument goes both ways to condemn him or to help prove his innocence.

I will wait until MLB does a thorough investigation and until then, I will base myself of the principles of "innocent until proven guilty" unlike the opposite which many jump to.

If I'm understanding correctly, we don't know if Gio took drugs, which if we're talking about legal drugs is no problem, but if they're banned then if he gets suspended we need a backup plan, so we need these people to release more information if they have it, if that makes sense.

We don't know:
if gio knew Anthony bosch
if he took drugs
if there is evidence of either
if the MLB will get it
if they will act on it any time soon
if he'll get suspended
if it will withstand appeal, or
if by that point it will be too late to sign a reasonable backup.

Me
Why are you upset with Gio?

Me personally if I'm a pitcher and I make the salary of gio. Wouldn't you go to see the team doctor or ask rizzo for help in finding a specific supplement? Your making millions for christ sake use your team resources. The owner is a billionaire. Wouldnt you feel safer doing it that way, instead of going through a third party doctor?

If he's suspended and we lose him 50 games, and espinosa is out with lombo in and were struggling against a loaded braves team, nobody is going to be laughing on here. This team doesnt need the distraction now. The braves and the dodgers are stacked. Losing Gio or epinosa will hurt us during the season. I think this team has a 2 yr window to win it all. Just my 2.
