And he missed a month of PT and struggled a bit fighting off the injury before that. Even if he regresses a bit, he's a 20-20 guy easy. Yeah, I'll take that.

Extrapolate King Ian's 2012 numbers out over 162 games and you get 31 home runs, 26 stolen bases, 41 doubles. Weird, wild stuff right there.

Edit: Shortstops 2004-Present that have hit 25+ Home Runs in a season
      1.  Bill Hall – 2006
      2.  Miguel Tejada – 2004, 2005
      3.  Hanley Ramirez – 2007, 2008
      4.  Troy Tulowitzki – 2009-2011
      5.  Jimmy Rollins – 2006, 2007
      6.  J.J. Hardy – 2007, 2011
      7.  Jose Valentin – 2004
      8.  Khalil Green – 2007
      9.  Ian Desmond – 2012
    10.  Asdrubal Cabrera - 2011

One of the four non-Desmond Shortstops who appear on the list, Jose Valentin, hit more than 25 home runs multiple years prior to 2004.  This may look promising, but based on BB% and K%, Desmond's closest comparable may be Khalil Green, and it ain't pretty http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1826&position=SS . Ian had a much higher WRC+ this year, though.
