Winni peg?  Vega ears pop up.

Headed up to Winnipeg tomorrow.

Can't wait.  Really looking forward to that peak of -10 on Wednesday.

At the company I visited in Winnipeg this week, there are 3 guys who commute year round by bike.  And mind you, this time of year if the temperature climbs above 0 degrees F, it's a heat wave.  Plus, it's dark when they arrive, and dark when they leave.

I talked to one of the guys, he wears a ski helmet and obviously LOTS of layers.  His 1 way commute is 20 km.

My commute is 18 miles each way.

Layers and mittens. I'm buying shoe covers if I don't get them for Xmas. By and large,  my toes get colder than anything else

The problem with biking in the winter here is ice. I'd never see it in the dark and I'd be on my ass in no time

Fleece-lined neoprene booties cost like $20 or $25 at Performance.  I've ridden 30 miles in 5°F with -20 windchill and not gotten cold feet.

Of course. In a blinding blizzard.

Had to put something on the list. Honestly, I shouldn't need much more than neoprene ones and a couple pairs of socks.

Those "lobster mitts" are good for cold weather biking.  Much warmer than gloves, but the free index/middle finger allow you to tend to such matters as shifting gears and braking.  I have a pair of Pearl Izumi mitts that are good down to about 15 without liners and ??? with polypro inserts.
