Raining all morning here in south Arlington (fairly hard right at this moment). Rain/showers are supposed to carry on into Sunday (we need this though).

I do not understand why some people think they don't have to use their headlights when driving in heavy rain. It's usually the people whose vehicles are colors that are hard to see in bad weather, too.

I drove to Mass today, taking off at 6:30.  Worst weather-delayed stretch was going up BW Parkway.  It did not really open up until past 32.  After that, just one accident near Wilmington that slowed I95 for about 5-10 minutes.  After I gassed at the station right after the bridge (49 South ) and hit dunkins for some human fuel, it was pretty clear sailing over the GW bridge.  Lots of accidents before and after me on the CT turnpike and the hutch, but I went up 684 to 84, and was only slowed due to some grass cutting or something around Mt Kisco.  I skipped Nardellis in Danbury because I made good time and ended up at Reins for corned beef and tongue on light rye with real mustard, 4 pickles, and a slice of cheesecake. 

On another note, Exit 10 on I 84 is Newtown / Sandy Hook.

2nd time in 30 years we had to postpone our fall fishing trip for weather.  We only get one such trip a year, no fun fishing and camping with 15-25 mph winds + rain.

This kind of rain—which knocks out DirecTV—is about the only thing that makes me consider getting cable or FIOS TV (we have FIOS phone and Internet). I'm trying to watch Panama at Mexico and the rain keeps knocking out the signal. Damn annoying. It interrupted the US game too, but we saw the two goals right before I finished making dinner so it bugged me less. Thank Gid tomorrow is Saturday and we can sleep in. This kind of rain makes you not want to get up in the morning.

Like, seriously, the one time I can justify sitting on my ass and watching TV is when it's pouring rain. And the damned thing can't find the signal.

I don't know if dish network is better, but we would only have problems during those July storms where the sky turned green. Sucks to not be able to watch because of frequent heavy cloud cover.

Like, seriously, the one time I can justify sitting on my ass and watching TV is when it's pouring rain. And the damned thing can't find the signal.

I could move the dish up to the main roof (it's currently on a lower roof over the kitchen bay window), but then I wouldn't be able to reach it to clean off snow and ice when needed. We may be forced to FIOS eventually. I don't much want to do that (among other reasons, Ms1995hoo is finally comfortable with DirecTV and would not be happy to have to learn a new system), but we may not have much choice in another year or two.

Directv satellite craps out more than I like when we get a batcrap storm, but I LOVE the HD on our good TV. Looks like you could reach out and touch the people on the screen.
