I've heard Carp's name from a couple of people this offseason, including my buddy who lives in Seattle who claims the Mariners will "regret" letting him go. What's the deal here? I see nothing special from his history, and I don't know what a team's going to do with a LH1B who can't hit RHP (.241/.323/.398 in 470 PA).
Why is he such a popular name for baseball geeks?
I don't really have an answer. He just passes my eye test for whatever reason.
He just has the look of someone that "should" do well.
