Wasn't it Johnson for Vasquez?

Vasquez I always thought was exhibit A for why Jorge Posada is not a hall of famer.  How many very good to great pitchers had their worst years pitching to Jorge? Randy Johnson, Kenny Rogers, and of course Vasquez (I'll skip Kevin Brown because it was at  the end of his career).  It isn't the "pressure of new york" crud, either, because these guys pitched well against the NYY; Rogers even pitched well for the NYM.

No, it was my personal trade punchline, Aaron Thompson.

Welch had made a comment about the NYY trading Johnson to the Expos when they got Giambi, and could not recall the NYY getting something of value.  My comment was that they got Javier Vasquez, who was a pretty good pitcher everywhere except throwing to Jorge (just like a bunch of really good pitchers who could throw in Shea and at Yankee Stadium except when Jorge was catching).

You are right about who the Expo/Nats got for Johnson when we traded him.

The Yankees got Giambi well before the Vazquez trade.  I believe it was Vazquez for NJ and Juan Rivera.

Johnson and Giambi overlapped 2 years with the NYY - 2002 and 2003.

I don't think it's so odd!   He had tests done.   Nothing appears wrong.   You lift up a 4 year old and put his/her feet thru those little openings in the cart.   It's easy to wrench your back!
