unbelievable, they might lose more than Houston next year.

Is there another Harper coming in 2014?

1 SS Jose Reyes
2 2B Emilio Bonifacio
3 RF Jose Bautista
4 1B Edwin Encarnacion
5 CF Colby Rasmus
6 3B Brett Lawrie
7 C Travis d'Arnaud / J.P. Arencibia
8 DH Adam Lind
9 LF Anthony Gose

I like that lineup.

they will be lucky to draw 2k fans a game next year as well.  Stanton has to be on the road out of town.

This trade will have massive repercussions for baseball in Miami. Loria basically just killed his franchise. No one will sign there, fans won't show up, and the players that are there will have no confidence in management at all. This isn't like Oakland and Tampa playing Moneyball where players and fans know that they are trying to win despite low payrolls. This is Loria skywriting that he doesn't give a freak. If he doesn't care, what should anyone involved in the organization at any level, from the fans, to the players, to the coaches, care either? Unless he sells the team, this could mark the beginning of the end of the Marlins franchise.

i really have to wonder if MLB kills this deal.  You are right, there's no point in having this team exist after this deal.

They could use Morse as the DH.  Do they have any good young relievers they'd trade?  But you are right - they look competitive.  Especially if Johnson can stay healthy.

I'd be thrilled to get Stanton, but not so much Nolasco. Edwin is better than him.

Yeah, that's why I edited and put in Greinke. He's not too good.

Still, one year of overpaying Nolasco to be our number five for ten years of Stanton being awesome would be worth it.

Then trade them at midseason, rinse, and repeat?  Why would anyone sign in Miami after what they just pulled?

Edwin has the better WHIP and SO/9 at least.

I was just thinking that we may be getting ahead of ourselves in speculating about getting Stanton, but I don't think we are. He's a pissed off star who will soon be getting very wealthy in arbitration. The Fish won't be competitive for years, if ever again, so they might as well deal him for more guys who might be around at a lower salary in a few years. It may seem nuts, but this really could freaking happen. It'll require a lot to get done, but it could create the best young core of players we've seen in baseball in years.

Slightly better, and I'd rather have one year of Nolasco than more years of Edwin.

Eerily simlar FIP, IP, and wins.

Also, Nolasco was steady throughout the season. Edwin Jackson was marginal the second half.

I recall that we had interest in Nolasco several years ago. Perhaps Rizzo would like to revisit that.
