Hey LAC gang, are the other GMs still jealous of the Marlins franchise?

Sure.

So they traded Buehrle, Johnson, Bonificio, and Jose Reyes. Good chance they finish with 50 wins this year. Maybe we can even beat them sometime too

It's all about profit sharing. You don't put enough butts in the seats with a looser, you get more money from the Yankees... I think we should just start calling them the Southern Pirates.

At least the Pirates try to work with what they have, despite the dysfunction. The Marlins don't care.

Eerily simlar FIP, IP, and wins.

Also, Nolasco was steady throughout the season. Edwin Jackson was marginal the second half.

They both suck.  :mg:

Really they are both guys that probably have better "stuff" then their records indicate.  Maybe EJax has more pure "stuff" than Nolasco, but both don't exactly take the bull by the horns.  Edwin if he could figure it out is a top of the rotation starter and Nolasco easily could be a 2 or 3 on some teams.  That again is based on pure "stuff"  I'd say they are both number fives.  Maybe two of the best number fives out there, but number fives none the less.

I recall that we had interest in Nolasco several years ago. Perhaps Rizzo would like to revisit that.

I'd rather put Lannan back in the rotation than trade for Nolasco. Nolasco's an average pitcher who's going to make $11.5 mil next season. Not worth it, IMO.

By himself? Not a chance. Included in a deal to make the Marlins part with Stanton more easily? Hell yes.

MLB needs to do something about the Marlins. Either franchise them or rip the team away from Loria. This is awful for the sport.

Right, that would totally interfere with their competitive plans.

and :lmao: at everyone looking forward to The Franchise covering the Marlins. Maybe they'll cover a real team next season, but after this I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do another season.

If they got their money, even if the Marlins stopped halfway through the season, then they will definitely do another one. Just do a team that made the playoffs the previous year. Like us.

Rizzo would never allow that crapshow in his locker room.

Bet we'd be first on their list, though.

I was just thinking that we may be getting ahead of ourselves in speculating about getting Stanton, but I don't think we are. He's a pissed off star who will soon be getting very wealthy in arbitration. The Fish won't be competitive for years, if ever again, so they might as well deal him for more guys who might be around at a lower salary in a few years. It may seem nuts, but this really could freaking happen. It'll require a lot to get done, but it could create the best young core of players we've seen in baseball in years.

Is he a supertwo?

If I'm BGS,  I'm hitting twitter wondering how much I have to offend Loria and Miami to get out of town,  maybe a blog.stack.com rant about the quality of Miami fans?

Not according to http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/10/super-two-cutoff-to-be-2139.html

Well, that explains why the Marlins wont trade him...yet.  I wonder if their tune changes next year....

Attacking Loria would do the trick.
