I don't know who "the United" are. I may be going to RFK to root for United depending on when the game is and how much tickets cost.

Sounds like you've already got two excuses for why you're not going.

There was a great crowd there in 1992 or 1993 for a US v. Ireland game as well. The US won, which helped.

30th May 1992: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Other/2006/05/USA-Vs-Ireland-05-30-1992.aspx - my father and I were there (in fact those who attended got priority on tickets for the RFK fixtures of the 1994 World Cup).

You still haven't explained what your mysterious "the United" refers to.

How are ticket sales? How much are they? Will it be possible for casual fans to attend?

The cheapest I could find for the last game a day or two ahead were like sixty bucks

Dero might be back for second round according to soccer insider. If dc gets second seed they don't get a home weekend game at least in round one. Third place might not be so bad

I bought four $30 tickets in the first row of 318 for the Saturday game on the Thursday before the game so they were available at that point. I suspect that they will open up the 400 level for the playoff games.

It is my understanding that there will be at least one home playoff game, occurring on 10/31, 11/1, 11/3, or 11/4 depending on seeding, this is based on the flyers they were handing out as we left the game. The mid week game would be played if the United end up as the fourth seed.

Possibly, possibly not...here are United's home attendances in the playoffs since winning their last MLS Cup:

30th October 2005 (first round vs Chicago) - 20,069
29th October 2006 (first round vs New York) - 21,455
5th November 2006 (conference final vs New England) - 19,552
1st November 2007 (first round vs Chicago) - 19,438

...about what United were drawing in regular season back then (and normally accommodating in the lower bowl), maybe a pinch more.

I was at all of those games, and I seem to recall a fairly substantial number of people up on the upper deck.  I think the lower bowl maxes out at just over 19k since they got rid of the seats behind the north goal when the Nats moved into RFK.

Not for the game against Chicago in 07, that was the first one where the upper deck was closed, so the Fire supporters were placed in the corner of the 300s back behind the Screaming Eagles.

That game in 2005 was the same day that the Skins got stomped by Tiki Barber in one of our worst defeats that I can remember. My crew watched the football game in lot 8, then headed in to see the United go down four zip at halftime. We were smashed and pissed off and left RFK in search of relief.

I sort of dimly remember that game.  That was where Christian Gomez had a late goal pulled back as I sorta kinda maybe recall.  I think the SEs had a particularly potent mini keg of liquor at the tailgate.

Hope it's 11/6, no chance I can make it on Halloween. Game is about to start, winner gets the bye, loser hosts the play in game, the United just need a tie.

@mshatzerDC: No #DCU home game next weekend. Only way DC finishes 3rd is with a 7-6 loss today. It's either 2nd (11/6 at RFK) or 4th (10/31 at RFK)

DC's losing, but they're actually playing very well right now. I'm glad Olsen finally told McDonald to stop booting it down the field every time he has it.

Need another goal to lock in the tie, the Fire are going to start getting desperate soon.

With the storm coming a game on Wednesday might still be wet and windy, not much fun for tailgating, power might still be out for watching on TV.

Roy Lassiter, there's a name from the past, sure could use a guy like that now.

Due to the aftermath of the storm in NY/NJ, leg 1 will be at RFK on Saturday

That's great news for us, probably adds 5K more fans in the stadium.  I still have my grill in the car from last game so I'm ready to roll.

The Nats started the playoffs on the road before finishing up at home so maybe it will work out better the other way around for the United.

Holy Jebus, but could you quit freaking referring them to as 'The United'. Pet peeve that is not their name. If you must continue this after being corrected on multiple forums then I will just stay out of this thread. Please, I beg you.
